Are eggs good for weight loss?
Eggs can fit well into a weight-loss diet, mainly because they can make a first meal satisfying.
In one eight-week trial, an egg breakfast was associated with greater weight loss than an energy-matched bagel breakfast when both were combined with a reduced-calorie diet. The same trial found no weight-loss advantage from the egg breakfast when people were not asked to reduce their overall energy intake.
That distinction matters. Eggs don't cause weight loss by themselves. Their practical value is that, for some people, a filling egg-based meal may make eating a little less overall easier to maintain.
None of that makes eggs magic, and not everyone will see identical results. But they can be a useful part of a weight-loss approach when they help make a satisfying meal easier to repeat.
