Plain Omelette

Main Ingredients: None

Appetite Appeal

Sometimes the simplest omelette is exactly what you want. Soft eggs, a little butter or olive oil, and black pepper. Nothing else to prepare, nothing to use up, and no decisions about fillings. The flavour of the eggs takes centre stage, and a few fresh herbs can provide a little variation when wanted.

Plain Omelette ingredients

Ingredients

  • Eggs — 2 or 3
  • Butter or olive oil — 1 tsp
  • Black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat the butter or oil in a non-stick pan over a medium-low heat.

  2. Whisk the eggs with a little black pepper.

  3. Pour into the pan and gently draw the cooked edges towards the centre, allowing uncooked egg to flow underneath.

  4. When the eggs are nearly set but still soft on top, fold the omelette.

  5. Cook briefly until just set, then serve.
